Headteacher's Welcome

About Our School
On behalf of everyone at St Thomas of Canterbury Church of England Primary School I am very pleased to welcome you to our thriving school community. We aim to provide every child with an education of the highest quality and the opportunity to realise their full potential in all aspects of their education, within a caring, Christian community.
As a primary school we understand the importance of nurturing, establishing and building firm foundations when children join us in Early Years Foundation Stage (Reception), as well as supporting a seamless transition in to Key Stage 2 (Year 3). Ultimately we strive to provide positive experiences and a broad and balanced curriculum allowing children to take risks, rise to challenges, and develop independence and a love of learning. Parents/carers have a very important part to play in this journey and we very much encourage a proactive partnership between home and school with your child’s best interests at the heart of our decision making. At St Thomas’ Primary School we firmly believe that the education of your child is most effective when we work in partnership based on mutual respect and understanding.
The teaching and non-teaching staff at our school are committed to working with your child to help them achieve their full potential as a member of our caring, Christian school community, where everyone is known, valued and respected. Children enjoy coming to our school because it is a safe and welcoming environment. They are well taught and form positive relationships with their teachers, other adults and friends. Our school prides itself on being calm, purposeful and well organised; behaviour is based on our belief in the principles of Character Education and the teaching of Christian values.
We hope this website and our school prospectus will inform you of the school aims, organisation, activities, expectations and achievements. We are very proud of what we do! It is however, by its nature, a précis of our school. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school so that we can arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
I am immensely proud of our school and we are always happy to show visitors around the school, to see the school in action and meet our amazing children.
